Multi-talented Taiwanese Jay Chou and supermodel-turned-actress Lin Chi Ling have been transformed into new-age Chinese action stars by film director Kevin Chu in their latest movie The Treasure Hunter.
Chou’s fans turned up to show their support when the three attended a press conference here yesterday to promote the movie.
Chu said with The Treasure Hunter, he was “finally making a movie with all the effects I want”, and was especially glad to have two of Taiwan’s top international celebrities starring in it.
As Taiwan’s Prince of Pop, Chou said that he was especially tickled to be “making a string of action movies with filmmakers who were not familiar with his music background”.

Both men heaped praises on relative newcomer Lin who surprised them with her furious fight scenes, saying her “only concern was that she might accidentally hurt Chou, whose legions of fans are known to be very protective of him”.
Chou plays a chivalrous young man who is the guardian of a medieval city while Lin plays an independent young woman who is a passionate writer of adventure novels.
Helmed by Chu and martial arts director Ching Siu-Tung, the fantasy adventure was made with a budget of nearly NT$500mil (RM53mil).
Filmed in Yinchuan and Zhongwei and the vast deserts of mainland China, The Treasure Hunter is an action-packed feature which combines Eastern adventure and Chinese weapons with treasure hunting.
